Indianapolis, 14 September 2008: after yesterdays good qualifying session result on the dry, LCR Honda MotoGP racer Randy De Puniet started from the 6th place for the 28-lap race at the spectacular Indianapolis circuit that has been hit by heavy rain and strong speed because of the path of Hurricane Ike.

The race was red-flagged at 7 laps to go with Rossi in first place and after the Race Direction’s decision the American GP was stopped because of some damaged airfences and slippery conditions of the track surface. The Frenchman aboard the Michelin-shod Honda RC212V started from the second row but he lost five places ending the first lap in 11th position. After that Randy struggled with lack of grip for the whole race and managed to finish the race safely.
Today’s winner is Rossi followed by Hayden and Lorenzo.

De Puniet – 13th: “It was a tough day today. We started with a quite good warm up in the dry and we were optimistic for a dry race. But the conditions were very diffiicult before the start and I did not get a good start loosing five places in the first lap. I struggled from the beginning with lack of grip both front and rear but I tried the best I could, trying not to make any mistake. Overall I tried to survive the race and it’s not very clear why we had such a poor grip but we must find a solution for next race in Japan which can potentially be wet”.
