CRUTCHLOW COMPLETES ENCOURAGING TEST IN AUSTRALIA

Cal Crutchlow enjoyed another positive day at Phillip Island on Friday, ensuring he and the LCR Honda team finished the official pre-season test in Australia with plenty to be encouraged about. The Briton was again up towards the top of the timesheets on his Honda RC213V and looks in a good place with just one testing session left before the start of the 2017 MotoGP World Championship.

While his best time was a 1’29.101, Crutchlow was strong throughout and finished with an impressive 15-lap run at an average of 1’29.5s – similar to Maverick Viñales, who went quickest overall on the final day in Victoria. Having not pushed for an out-and-out fast lap, the British racer was pleased with his efforts and remains confident he has plenty more in hand.

A final three-day test now takes place at the Losail circuit in Qatar next month before the 2017 season gets underway at the same location on March 26.

IMPRESSIVE SECOND OF TESTING FOR CRUTCHLOW IN AUSTRALIA

Today marked the halfway point of the pre-season testing programme for the 2017 MotoGP World Championship, and it’s a case of so far, so good for the LCR Honda Team. With Cal Crutchlow having yet another productive day at the Phillip Island circuit in Australia, things are already looking much rosier on board his Honda RC213V than one year ago.

Crutchlow put in several decent long runs on Thursday, and with his lap-times proving consistently quick he ended the day as third fastest on track overall. The British racer eventually stopped the clock in a best time of 1’29.325, nearly three-quarters of a second quicker than on Wednesday, and without pushing for an all-out fast lap.

Having already completed three days of tests in Malaysia, and now two more in Australia, there are now four more testing days left before the season proper, including tomorrow’s final session at the cliff-top venue in Victoria.

CRUTCHLOW RETURNS TO SCENE OF VICTORY FOR TESTING

The second official pre-season testing session for the 2017 MotoGP World Championship began at the Phillip Island circuit in Australia today. It was, of course, the venue for Cal Crutchlow’s second Grand Prix victory of 2016 and fond memories of that glorious October day were rekindled as the LCR Honda Team made the long journey to southern Victoria.

Conditions were thankfully very different to those experienced during the Australian Grand Prix last year, with blue skies and comfortable temperatures throughout the day. As such, Crutchlow had the opportunity to complete 61 laps of the flowing coastal track, stopping the clock in a best time of 1’30.065.

That gave the Briton the fifth fastest time of the day, and set him and the team up well for the remaining two test days in Australia.

CRUTCHLOW ENDS MALAYSIA TEST IN POSITIVE FASHION

The first of three official pre-season testing sessions came to a close at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia today, as the whole MotoGP field and a variety of test riders began to draw their conclusions from three days of hard work.

For the LCR Honda Team and their British rider Cal Crutchlow it was a chance to help Honda evaluate the 2017 version of the RC213V, with still seven weeks to go before the start of the world championship in Qatar.

The final day of testing was a busy one for the squad, with Crutchlow completing a mammoth 71 laps of the sweltering 5.543km circuit. He clocked a best lap time of 1’59.728, the eighth fastest lap of the day, and the ninth fastest time of the three-day test.

The LCR Honda Team now pack up their equipment in Malaysia to prepare for the next three-day official test at the Phillip Island circuit in Australia in two weeks’ time.

SECOND DAY OF TESTS HAMPERED BY DAMP TRACK IN MALAYSIA

On the second day of pre-season testing at the Sepang International Circuit, overnight rain meant that the MotoGP riders could only take to the track in the afternoon to continue their work on preparing their 2017 machines.

For the LCR Honda Team and their British rider Cal Crutchlow that meant a total of 44 laps as they worked through the test plan on this season’s Honda RC213V, with the 30 year-old stopping the clock in a best time of 2’00.691 – the 12th best time of the day.

Wednesday will mark the LCR Honda Team’s final day of testing for this week, with the chance to put in a race simulation and also to test the softer tyre option.
